The architectural design approach of Michael Black & Associates relies on strong client input and sensitivity to environmental, social, cultural, psychological, economic and functional issues. Consequently, the design of each building reflects the uniqueness of each situation. Architectural projects include various types of housing including Cohousing, financial facilities, community and cultural facilities, religious buildings, hotels, restaurants and medical facilities.

Sustainability and "Green Building" are values being expressed in Michael's recent work. His care and creativity in developing: spaces, lighting (both natural and artifical), coloration and the use of materials results in architecture that is not only functional, but emotionally moving as well.

He has received recognition for his designs from the American Institute of Architecture and from various periodicals including Time Magazine. His work has been featured in the Euphrat Gallery in Cupertino and included in other gallery shows including the Verle Annis Gallery at USC and the Barnsdale Gallery in Barnsdale Park in Los Angeles.
