COMMUNITY LIFE DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, LLC
THIS PART OF THE WEBSITE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION
MISSION STATEMENT The purpose of Community Life Development, LLC is to assist in the development of sustainable, aging-in-place cohousing communities by offering community formation, architectural design, and development consultation services in addition to occasionally participating in the development of these new cohousing communities. VISION STATEMENT To create retirement and intergenerational cohousing communities that focus on accommodating the process of aging in place in an environment that is empowering, community-based and non-institutional. To create communities based on cohousing principles of diversity and consensus decision-making that are built of "green construction" and, when possible, part of a mixed use development. To provide these forming communities with the expertise necessary to facilitate communities of mutual caring and compassion. To assist in the development of communities attractive to the seventy-eight million "baby boomers," and those who are older, who will be attracted to a life-style that will not only accommodate their aging process, but will provide them with an opportunity to engage life in new and positive ways. COLLABORATION It is the intention of CLD to collaborate with local architects when providing the architectural design and design consultation services and with local developers when involved as a developer of a new cohousing community. ACTIVE DEVELOPMENTS Sequoia Village Cohousing, Sebastopol, CA Michael formed a team consisting of Burbank Housing Development Corp. and Hedgpeth Architects in order to respond to an RFP issued by the City of Sebastopol. The City was motivated to become proactive in the development of cohousing due to the City Council's familiarity with Two Acre Wood Cohousing, a community Michael spearheaded and designed. Sequoia Village is a 20-unit affordable, sustainable, ownership model of cohousing sitting on two acres. Construction is expected to begin this summer, 2007. Michael provided entitlement and design consultation services and will be providing community formation services as well. |
