PAIUTE SHOSHONE CULTURAL CENTER MUSEUM BISHOP INDIAN RESERVATION, CA
This building was designed to reflect the Paiute and Shoshone cultures by utilizing a design pattern inspired by their basket designs and beadwork. Stencils were used to paint this design on the exterior plaster surfaces. Colors were chosen to blend with the winter environment and to provide some contrast to the spring and summer greenery. The Native American elders of the area refer to the design pattern as the "Stairway to Heaven."
Top Right: Hidden storage cabinets are part of the display cabinets to economize on storage space.
